Base64 Encoder/Decoder

Two-way Base64 encode/decode with UTF-8 support

How to Use

Base64 encodes arbitrary bytes into 64 printable characters, commonly used to transmit binary data through text-only channels like URLs, JSON and email. The native atob/btoa fail on non-Latin text; this tool handles UTF-8 properly, so Chinese characters and emoji encode and decode correctly.

How to use: paste text into the input and click "Encode" for the Base64 result, or paste Base64 and click "Decode" to restore it. Results can be copied with one click, and everything runs locally in your browser.

FAQ

Why do some tools garble Chinese in Base64?

The browser's native atob/btoa only support Latin-1, so multi-byte characters like Chinese break. This tool encodes text as UTF-8 first, so Chinese, Japanese and emoji all work correctly.

Is Base64 encryption?

No. Base64 is only an encoding — anyone can decode it. For confidentiality use a real encryption algorithm such as AES.

Can I convert images to Base64 too?

Yes — use our dedicated Image to Base64 tool, which is designed for image files with preview and size information.
