Character Splitter

Split text and inspect Unicode code points

CharUnicodeDecimalUTF-8 Bytes

How to Use

Zero-width spaces sneaked into your text? Why do two identical-looking strings fail comparison? How many code points make up that emoji? Paste the text here and inspect it character by character to find out instantly.

How to use: enter text and the tool lists each character with its index, the character itself, Unicode code point (U+XXXX), decimal value and UTF-8 byte sequence. Invisible characters are highlighted by name (e.g. ZERO WIDTH SPACE) for easy cleanup.

FAQ

What are zero-width characters?

Zero-width characters (e.g. U+200B zero-width space, U+FEFF BOM) are invisible but truly present in text, often breaking string comparisons, word counts and regex matches. This tool highlights them explicitly.

Why does one emoji occupy multiple code points?

Many emoji are sequences: a base character plus modifiers. 👍🏽 is thumbs-up (U+1F44D) plus a skin-tone modifier (U+1F3FD); 👨‍👩‍👧 is three base emoji joined with ZWJ. Splitting reveals the full composition.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Splitting and code-point computation run locally in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.
