How exactly are words counted?
Each Chinese character counts as one word; English words are split by spaces. The tool also shows total characters (with spaces) and without spaces, so you can match any platform's counting rule.
Do punctuation marks count?
They're included in 'total characters' but not in 'Chinese word / English word' counts. Platforms differ: WeChat counts punctuation; MS Word's 'word count' excludes it by default (configurable).
Is my text uploaded?
No. Counting happens locally in your browser in real time — text is never sent to any server.
