JSON to CSV

Convert JSON to CSV and back with custom delimiters and headers

How to Use

JSON arrays from APIs often need to go into Excel or a spreadsheet, which means CSV; and when a CSV table needs to be processed by code, JSON is usually easier to work with. This tool handles both directions: JSON to CSV collects the union of all object keys as the header row and also accepts arrays of arrays, while CSV to JSON uses a full state-machine parser that correctly handles quoted fields, escaped double quotes and embedded line breaks.

How to use: pick the direction and a delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) at the top, paste your content and click "Convert". When converting CSV to JSON, keep "First row is header" checked to turn the first row into object keys, or uncheck it to get an array of arrays. The result can be copied with one click, and everything runs locally in your browser, so sensitive tables never leave your device.

FAQ

How is the column order decided when converting JSON to CSV?

The header is the union of object keys in order of first appearance, and missing values are left empty. If the input is an array of arrays, rows are output as-is without a header row.

What if a field contains commas or line breaks?

When generating CSV, any field containing the chosen delimiter, a double quote or a line break is wrapped in double quotes, and inner quotes are escaped as two double quotes. The parser follows the same standard, so columns stay intact.

Does this tool upload my table data?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser, no server is involved and no sign-up is required, so it is safe for sensitive exported data.
