Chinese to Pinyin

Convert Chinese characters to Pinyin with tone options

How to Use

This tool converts Chinese characters into Pinyin with tone marks, useful for reading annotation, search indexing and Chinese-as-a-second-language learning. Three tone forms are supported: symbols (ā á ǎ à), numbers (a1 a2 a3 a4) and no tone (a). A custom separator such as space or hyphen can be set.

How to use: paste Chinese text, choose the tone form and separator, then click "Convert". Everything runs locally in your browser; no text is uploaded. Polyphonic characters use the most common reading — for proper nouns, manual review is recommended.

FAQ

How are polyphonic characters handled?

The tool returns the most common reading, which may not always be correct. Proper nouns such as names, places and classical text should be reviewed manually.

Why are some characters not converted?

Punctuation, digits, Latin letters and spaces are kept as-is; only Chinese characters in the standard table are converted. Rare characters outside the dictionary are also kept as-is.

Is my text uploaded?

No. All conversion happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your device and no sign-up is required.
