How to Use

Compression re-encodes an image into a smaller file so pages load faster, chat apps accept the upload, and size limits stop rejecting your photos. Two levers do the work: the quality slider (0.1-0.95) trades nearly invisible detail for big savings, while a maximum width scales down oversized pictures proportionally — ideal for straight-out-of-camera shots.

How to use: pick an image to see its name, dimensions and size, drag the quality slider, optionally set a max width in pixels, choose JPEG or WebP, then press the compress button. A preview, size comparison and download link appear at once. Everything runs on the Canvas of your own browser — nothing is uploaded, no registration is required, and you can retry different settings until the balance feels right.

FAQ

How much smaller can my images get?

It depends on the source image and quality setting. JPEG quality between 0.6 and 0.8 typically brings photos down to 20-50% of the original size, and WebP goes smaller still at the same quality. Try a few values and keep the smallest file that still looks fine.

Will compression hurt image quality?

JPEG and WebP are lossy: re-encoding discards some detail, though usually invisible. Each run compresses the image you select, not a previous output. Keep the original file as your master and re-compress from it whenever you need another try.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens locally through your browser's Canvas, so image data never leaves your device. Private screenshots and photos are safe, and there is no account or sign-in.
