PNG is lossless and keeps transparency; JPEG and WebP are lossy. JPEG has no alpha channel: with the option above checked, transparent areas turn white; unchecked, they turn black. Quality has no effect on PNG output.

How to Use

PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, great for icons and screenshots; JPEG squeezes photos into small, universally compatible files; WebP usually beats both at the same visual quality, which is why modern sites favor it. This tool converts between the three formats on a Canvas, with a quality slider for lossy output and an option to fill transparency with white when targeting JPEG.

How to use: pick an image and its original info appears, choose the target format, adjust quality for lossy formats, tick the white-background option when converting to JPEG, then press convert. A preview, size comparison and download link show up right away. Everything happens locally in your browser — no uploads, no registration, nothing to install. For smaller files try the image compressor; for different dimensions use the image resizer.

FAQ

Which format should I choose?

Pick PNG for icons and screenshots that need transparency, JPEG for photos where universal compatibility matters, and WebP when you want the smallest files for the web — it is typically 25-35% smaller than JPEG at similar quality.

Why does transparency turn black when converting to JPEG?

JPEG has no alpha channel and cannot store transparency. Tick the fill-with-white option to turn transparent areas white; without it the Canvas renders a black background. To keep transparency, export as PNG or WebP instead.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs locally through your browser's Canvas, so image data never leaves your device. Private images are safe to convert, and no account is required.
